Hair loss; what's the cause?

14 years old. Female. brown, armpit length hair.

I've been losing a lot of hair lately, maybe since school's started. I've also just finished cross country and have lost about 20 lbs in 3 months. My dad thinks it's stress related or weight loss. What are the other possible causes?

Hair loss; what's the cause?

Stress and rapid weight loss both contribute to hair loss.

And there is not enough fat in your diet.

Rapid weight loss like yours causes individual fat cells to lose fat-soluble nutrients like Vitamin E which is a key compotent in hair cell production %26amp; maintenance giving hair a healthy shine.

Look at the Weight Watchers Diet Cookbook online or in a store.

Weight Watchers teaches basic Nutrition for maintaining a healthy height-to-weight ratio as well as for gaining or losing weight to reach your optimal Body Mass Index.

Good Luck Sweetheart.

Hair loss; what's the cause?

Hi there. Some reasons that i could think of is

1) Diet.... Do you have enough proteins and amino acids in your food...

2) Do you get enough sleep or do you stay up too late... Very important one

3) Do you brush your hair too often... tends to weaken those roots

4) Try massaging your head before shower.

5) Too much stress can be a bit of a reason too.

6) If all the above did not workout.... consult a GP.

Hair loss; what's the cause?

Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of a cycle of growing new hairs and loosing some. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.
