Why is my 9 week old mini dachshund loosing hair on the crease/fold of his ears?

I noticed it about a week ago, someone told me maybe he needs vitamins, could this be the case or could it be something else? Its just a little hair loss, he has not lost much--his hair is just very thin in that area. Please help!

Because the hair loss is on the fold of his ear, it could be because the hair is thinner over this particular point (because it has to bend) - that's whats most likely If it continues to be a concern, when you take him in for his next set of shots, ask your vet!

I've seen this before, it can be from being mal-nutritioned, or the most common thing I've seen.

It can either be ear mites, or an ear infection. They tend to scratch their ears a lot causing them to lose hair, my cat used to scratch until he bled.

You can get him checked for an ear infecting /earmites...

It could be a place the the hair is worn away or there could be something wrong. If the area grows then take your do to the vet! I have two mini dachshunds and we had a wiener dog race in our area and I was so surprised at how many types of dachshunds there are. The races were a riot and it benefited the local pet shelter it was a lot of fun! I hope that your dog is OK and stays in good health! For me my dogs are the little loves of my life (Ruthie and Raymond) Good Luck!

When I got my dog she was about two and the people that had her before I got her didn't take good care of her. The day I got her I noticed she had some patches of hair loss and the vet said it was a from of mange. I had to bathe her in this medicine and leave it on her. She got better within a month. They said that she was mostly likely born with mange. I would ask your vet.
