Help! I shed like crazy! Any tips to reduce hair loss?

I have really thick, long hair but lately I've been losing it like crazy. I am a vegetarian so that may be the problem but I've been a veg for three years and my shedding just started. I'm definitely starting to notice my hair thinning out and I'm starting to panic. Help!

Thanks!

Protein never hurt anyone. Grab some cans of tuna and go nuts. Veg may seem like a good idea, but don't miss out on the many health benefits of fish and lean meat.

actually you need more iron in your blood thats why people shed. normally people only shed about 100 strands of hair a day, any more than that means low iron in bloodstream; i know i have to take iron pills and eat stuff full of iron

If you are a vegi person, eat more beans, they are high in protein. You are most likely not eating right. Extreme hair loss is something that happens to people who are anorexic all though it can happen jsut because of a lock of something in your diet. DO you take vitamins???? YOu should if you dont get some meat.

Help! I shed like crazy! Any tips to reduce hair loss?

You need more protein, which is in meat. But since you don't eat meat... Try some protein pills or smoothies from jamba juice or any other smoothie shop. And if/when you get a smoothie from jamba juice, you can get a shot of protein in it. They put the protein powder in and mix it in the smoothie and you can't even taste it! Although the protein shots are ONLY at jamba juice... Don't worry! Stress also causes hair loss, so the more you stress the less hair you have. Hope this helps!!!

There are too many people that will adivise the Cosmetic products in order to create a view that it will all help...This sort of issue should and must be treated internally not externally...That won't be the one long-lasting i am utterly confident about...

You need a ZINK that your body does lack with..So along with it you have to use a BIOLAGE products paralelly to re-new the skull skin. However...That's an internal problem you have to take into account carefully...

For the massage you can treat your skull with a Liquid Nitrogen that should be applied upon the skull's skin with dabbing motions in order to revitalize the hair roots. Beauty Parlour's must be offering it i presume...In Russia yes..I don't know anything about your country...

Help! I shed like crazy! Any tips to reduce hair loss?

It is normal to lose up to %26amp; around 100 hairs a day! Most people dont even notice this loss.

Stress can commonly cause hair loss...so try to reduce stress %26amp; anxiety in your life.

Also simple things can reduce hair loss:

*Dont wash your hair as often if it doesnt need it.

*Wash %26amp; condition you hair GENTLY, it makes a difference!

*Wrap hair in towel to remove excess water or towel dry GENTLY.

*Comb through damp hair to remove tangles, starting at the ends first, gradually working your way to the crown.

*Leave your hair to air dry as often as you can.

N.B. If this doesnt reduce hair-loss see your doctor, there are medical conditons causing hair-loss also.

You may need protein. Also, the change in your hormones can cause this.

And one more idea, how are you wearing your hair? You can pull it back to tight for to long and it will cause some major problems.

Hope this helps :)

It's definitely protiene, as I'm sure you guessed from the answers above. I had the same problem, but I got protiene powder to make protiene shakes at home. It should sell at any discount store (Wal-mart, Publix, etc.) or even a local gym. Blend together some orange juice, a couple scoops of Sorbet icecream and 2 scoops of the protiene powder and blend till it's like a smoothy. Works well, and it's healthy!

Hair loss problem?

I am 29yrs old and 5'3", I am having hair loss problem. My hair is too dry, rough and curly. Whenever I comb my hair, shampoo and especially while conditioning, it comes out like hell. I consulted the doctor, he gave me some medicine like appearex and some derma oil to put in my scalp and even medicated shampoo, i started using this but it didn't help me. Doctor even did blood test every thing came normal but my DHEA Sulphate (related to hormones) was high, he didn't even told me what to do. I don't no what to do, I have lost half of my hair. Please give me some suggestions.

Hair loss problem?

I would suggest taking prenatal pills to help your body get vitamins which also will help your hair to grow faster, be careful when you brush your hair and start from the bottom and work your way up, Also I wouldnt wash my hair every day instead do it every other day and try not to pull it back tightly as it does stress the hair and the scalp/hair. Wash your hair with egg this will also give it some extra protein.

Hair loss problem?

Massage aloe Vera gel over the scalp, leave it for about one hour. After this rinse the hair with warm water. It gives excellent results for hair loss if one uses this massage at least 3-4 times a week. Check out

Its shedding or losing???????????

i'm 20 and i'm losing a lot of my hairs.......why is it so???

Its shedding or losing???????????

Loss of hair is come what common now. Due to high level of stress, lack of balanced diet, more pollution in and around use, reduced fresh air. Use of creams and dyes and Strong chemical do cause harm.

you are 20 does not rule out balding in very rare cases balding can begin at early age.

Now coming to what u can do to reduce the fall - have good balanced healthy food increase food like Amla ( Vita c) fresh fruits and veg in diet

Can take vit E for a very short period

Breathing exercise help good oxygenation and reduce stress so have double effect.

Can use Swami Ram dev recommended reflexology method of rubbing the nails of palms together for 5 mint every day first 3 mints every day then can reduce to 3 time a week. ( women must not rub the thumb nails)

A good oil massage of the scalp will increase blood supply to the hair and boost hair growth

for ur curls use curl activator from TREsemme

for shiny hair, use TREsemme hair shine spray

for mosturisation use sunsilk leave-in conditioner

if u wanna grow it u have to make sure that it reaches its full length in a healthy way by doing weekly deep conditioning and hot-oiling

Hair help ladies [shiny hair]?

i think the best would be garnier fructis dry or damaged hair.

Hair help ladies [shiny hair]?

Well you could just buy shampoo and conditioner that makes it shine, pantene has a line that does that. If it is to frizzy just buy some spray conditoner and spray it into your hair and dont comb but just play with yur hair and massage through. Should make it less frizzy and a little shiny too.

Hair help ladies [shiny hair]?

Garnier(spelling?) has a hairspray that makes it shiny. its about $4. and try using leave in conditoner also. it really helps soften ur hair. and as for enhancing ur curls, use scrunching gel. dont brush ur hair after u come outta the shower, and let it air dry. then scrunch it. it looks really pretty and takes about 10 minutes depending on ur hair legnth. i like herbal essence scrunching gel.

Hair help ladies [shiny hair]?

You have to trim is once in a while or your hair will think it doesn't need to grow!!?

stop straightening!! just enhance your curls.. Tigi bedhead has a great serum that tames frizziness, it's called control freak serum

Loreal Elvive's got these new shampoos, the pink one enhances shine and the yellow one Eva Longaria advertizes controls frizziness..

If a woman of another race does your hair, and ruins it.......?

Am I racist if I say please do not ever do another ethnics group hair EVER again if you do not know how.....I lost 4 inches of my hair and it was turned orange...I was accused of having bad ethics by the salon owner when I said what is written up above. I later called the licensing board and found out the woman who ruined my hair has an expired license...I was cussed out when I told her on the phone that I knew and wanted $ back...

If a woman of another race does your hair, and ruins it.......?

Hopefully you reported her and the shop to the licensing board. Not for messing up your hair, but for working w/o a license.

I would also file a report to the Better Business Bureau.

You aren't a racist unless you associated her race to her skill level. Associating your own race with particular hair care needs is simply acknowledging that you have needs that were not met.

If they were professional you should have been able to assume that they would either know how to do your hair, OR they would state that they did not before they did anything.

If a woman of another race does your hair, and ruins it.......?

Racist, I don't know, stupid yes, you didn't ask to see if she was a colour specialist. And if you felt uncomfortable with her, you should have stopped her then. Don't ever pay for something you don't like. and after you found out her license had expired, take her to small claims court. Report It

If a woman of another race does your hair, and ruins it.......?

I don't understand why race has anything to do with it. A lady messed up your hair... it doesnt matter if the lady was black or white, latino or indian, does it?

Maybe by bringing up that it was another race you are infering something racist

If a woman of another race does your hair, and ruins it.......?

i personally am a fan of orange hair mine is right now, but you may not be so if she ruined your hair to that extent take a fefw pics of it incase this gets ugly, go bac and tell them you want your $ back if they refuse try 1 more time and if they are still refusingtell them u will see them in court, ost likely they will pay up if not take them to court, and not because its all about te money because if this person does not have a license to do hair then they should not have a job doing it and this will prolly happen to someother person adn as pissed as i am sure you are about all this you shouldput a stop to it now and not allow it to happen again. and no it does not make you a racis to make a coment like that if it was worded rght, it all dependson how you said it. good luck

If a woman of another race does your hair, and ruins it.......?

I understand where you are coming from in the sense that the physical differences between say African American hair and Caucasion hair are so great that if someone had never worked with one or the other it could truly be disasterous. However, it's unfair to disqualify all hair dressers of other race simply due to one bad experience. Simply asking the hairdresser how much experience he/she has working with your particular type of hair seems like a much better way to go about it.

If a woman of another race does your hair, and ruins it.......?

We're talkin' hair here...... just hair.

Honestly, you gotta get your priorities in order. If you're going to take on a whole race, the least you could do is focus on something a little more controversial.

My God......hair?

If a woman of another race does your hair, and ruins it.......?

I've been going to hairdressers for over 50 years, and I still feel guilty when occasionally I've had to decline the services of a black person. I have fine, fly-away hair, which requires a certain skill and experience for it to look OK.

Having said that, the best highlights I've ever had were the work of a 7-foot, booted, dreadlocked Rasta in London! Never found him again, unfortunately.

How much hair loss is normal for a 21 year old.?

I know everyone sheds hair, but i lose a lot. My clothes have at least 25 strands if not more every time i wake up and i am constantly lossing it during the day. It is especially bad when i take a bath or shower. Is this normal or should i call a doctor?

How much hair loss is normal for a 21 year old.?

MOST PEOPLE LOSS 50 TO 300 HAIR STRANDS A DAY, BE SURE YOU ARE GETTING ENOUGH OF ZINK,BLOTIN,PROTEIN. HAIR LOSS ALSO CAN BE DUE TO PHYSICAL,MENTAL OR EMOTIONAL STRESS. IF IN DOUBT SEE A DERMATOLOGIST.

How much hair loss is normal for a 21 year old.?

How much hair loss is normal for a 21 year old.?

It is normal to loose 50 to 80 hair per day

We loose more hair than one can think of

It is just that they don't get noticed

Hair fall %26amp; hair growth is a life long process

How much hair loss is normal for a 21 year old.?

Natural hairloss is up to 130 strands a day, in the hours of the day you lose these hairs without even knowing, if your hair is curly it's dificult to fall out during the day cause it get tangeled with the others. Then when you shower or sleep thats when they get lose from the other hair. Say if you don't wash your hair for 4days and then wash it you can expect 4 x 130 = 520 hairs to fall out. And that's normal.

And don't stress about it, cause stress increase hairloss with almost 50%!

What is the solution for grey hair in adolescent age?

i've grey hair since my childhood. and i'm using dyes for the past 3 years. because of that i lost 3/4 of my hair in ihe past three years. can anyone post your suggestion

What is the solution for grey hair in adolescent age?

What can I eat to prevent premature greying?

Eating seafood is possibly one of the best things you can eat to promote all-over hair health. It is rich in zinc, iodine and protein, which are excellent for the hair. So if you enjoy seafood, make it a point to have fish several times a week. Remember that eating canned fish will not give you the same benefits as eating freshly cooked fish. If you don?t eat fish, consider fish-oil supplements.

Iron is good for hair and is found in dark green vegetables, meat and some pulses. If you are unsure about whether you are getting enough iron, include an iron supplement every once in a while in your diet. Remember that too many iron supplements can be bad for you. Women lose iron while menstruating, so perhaps during or after your cycle you can have iron-fortified supplements for a few days.

Eating foods rich in Vitamins B and C will ensure that your hair stays strong, does not break easily, and does not grey early. Pork, vegetables, whole grains, wheat germ, soymilk are all rich sources of Vitamin B, while citrus fruits are excellent sources of Vitamin C. Eating adequate Vitamin C helps increase absorption of iron. Try and have a glass of orange juice daily.

Your hair will never be healthy if you do not drink enough water. Drink at least eight to ten glasses a day.

What oil can I apply to my hair?

Rosemary oil is believed to gradually darken grey hair over a period of time. Soak rosemary leaves along with a few basil (tulsi) leaves, in jojoba oil, for a period of four weeks. Massage your scalp and hair with this oil (after warming it up).

Most oils are not easily absorbed by the hair, which is why you need to leave oil on for at least forty-five minutes. It helps greatly if you steam your hair after applying oil.

Boil dried amla pieces in coconut oil until the pieces turn black and the oil darkens. Apply this oil to the hair. It strengthens hair and prevents greying.

Boil tealeaves in water and rinse your hair with this liquid 20-30 times. Then, leave on for 15-20 minutes before the final rinse.

What else can I do to promote hair health and delay greying?

Washing your hair with very hot water or using hair-dryers excessively weaken roots, and may lead to premature greying. When using a hair-dryer, take care not to point it to your scalp. Similarly, try and wash your hair with cool or lukewarm water.

Will Yoga help?

Inverted yoga poses bring a rush of blood to the scalp. This stimulates circulation and enhances hair health. Do the following poses regularly:

Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog)

Sarvangasana

Chakrasana

Other easy ways to stimulate circulation are:

When you wash your hair, keep switching from hot water to cold water.

Comb your hair regularly. A hundred strokes every night should do the trick. If your hair is curly, use a wide toothed comb.

check the following product out you might get it on ebay

http://paynesbeautysupply-salo...

Home Remedies And Treatment

" Amla " is the best cure for grey hair and falling hair. Regular massage of "amla" paste rubbed into the scalp has worked wonders in many cases, frequently reversing the process of greying or falling off of hair.

Massage your hairs with coconut oil and Lemon everyday for at least 15 minutes. There are instances of people having black hairs even up to the age of 60-70 years by using this method.

Take 100 gms of curd. Add about 1 gm of black pepper to it. Mix it well and apply it evenly on the hair and scalp. Keep it for an hour and then wash with warm water and mild shampoo. Do this treatment once a week to see the remarkable difference in the texture and color of your hair . Your hair will become silkier and regular use will also make the hair dandruff-free. Curd helps in curing dandruff and making the hair softer while black pepper helps make the hair black. So one recipe gives 3 benefits - a) dandruff-free hair b) soft and silky hair and c) black hair. Doing this once a week helps in maintaining the hair color and delaying greying to a great extent. This recipe should be avoided by people who have a tendency to catch frequent colds and coughs.

Curd causes a cooling effect on the head and this may worsen a cold situation. .

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to le

be themselves. Johnny Damon was way better when he had the long hair/beard jesus look with the Red Sox, now he just doesn't seem like himself, and his stats show it. Same with Giambi. In Oakland, he sported long hair and a goat-tee. George made him shave that thing as soon as he got to NYC. Sure, he had a few good years, but he still probably wanted to grow the beard back. He hates shaving, same with Damon. Also, when Clemens was able to sport a goat in Toronto, he had his 2 best years ever. I say lose the no facial hair rule. And if the Yankees bring in Joe Girardi, who is the biggest jarhead marine style guy ever (he probably gets his flat-top trimmed every week) there will be no chance of the no-facial hair rule being over-turned. I believe Willie Randolph and the Mets have the no facial hair/long hair rule also, but I believe those are the only 2 teams in the majors with such rules. The Mets/Yankees can have mustaches (who wants one of those besides Boomer) and semi-side

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

i totally agree w/ u man! i think they should choose! it is there face... let them do what they want w/ it!

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

Last night's game was funny..jays were are sportin long beards while all the yanks were clean shavin

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

I think they're hippocrits. They won't let their players have facial hair, but they welcome multiple time drug offenders to their team (Steve Howe, Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, to name a few). There moral compass is totally screwed up.

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

First off all, if a player is better because of faical hair then he some serious mental issues. Having facial hair or not should not effect your performance.

Second, although i personally have no problem with facial hair, I think its good that the players do have to follow some rules. These are not exactly under serious control.

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

gosh! complain to george steinbrenner, not us good ppl of Yahoo answers. he probally wont be in charge much longer though so it may change.

ughhh first answerer, what r u thinking!! last nights game wasnt funny. it was painful! my poor eyes still havnt recovered to having to watch that.

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

It's a good rule. The Yankees are a cut above the other teams, whether one likes it or not, and hold themselves to a higher standard regarding appearance. All part of the mystique. There's no "I" in team, folks--be yourself on your own time. . . .

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

Imo it is outdated, old fashioned and archaic. This is not the military.

But hey, the Boss signs the checks right?

Kind of reminds me of an old WWI story (at least similar feel)- Kaiser Wilhelm II used to make his navies parade in front of him for no other reason but to make him feel powerful. He liked the idea of a well disciplined powerful group of mariners working for him.

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

It's supposed to be part of the "Yankee Mystique". I think it's all bull now anyway. After they let Clemens have absolutely anything he wanted in that contract, all that "Yankee Class" I've been hearing about went right out the window.

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

I suppose Johnny Damon being better with a beard and mustache means that mustache wax will now be put on baseball's banned substance list. And to think I thought steroids were an issue.

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

Johnny Damon's best year came in 2000 with the Royals, when he was as clean-shaven as he is today. And his strong years in Boston likely have much less to do with facial hair than they do the fact that he was in his prime years - 28-30 - while wearing a Red Sox uniform.

I don't think there are any modern-day Samsons in major league baseball. If the Yankees want to hold players to a certain standard regarding their appearance, that's their right. If you look at their history and vault full of championships, it doesn't seem to have hurt them.

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

If you are going to treat the game as a business then you should act like and dress like it is a business. Would you go to a fortune 500 company dressed like garbage and have enough hair to be compared with saquatch? I do not think so, you would come dressed like you belong there. It is about presenting yourself as a classy organization. Giambi has declined with the pressure of BALCO and Damon's body is finally giving out from the punishment that it has taken over the years. I do not think that Damon is Sampson and lost his ability due to cutting his hair. He was clean cut in Oakland and KC and put up good numbers there.

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

I think it is a bad idea.

I am a big fan of facial hair. I have had a beard constantly since I was 25. When I was young the Reds(the Big Red Machine teams) had a more extreme policy than the Yankees(the Yankees do allow mustasches). I hated the Reds with a major passion back then.

No facial hair rule for the NY Yankees, good idea or bad idea? I think it's bad. You have to let the players

You can debate this til you die, but each team has its own set of standards that it expects the players to live by if he doesn't agree with them he can play in a different city I'm sure.

How can i get my hair back after a bad hair loss?

I lost 1/2 of my hair because if stress. How can I get them back?

How can i get my hair back after a bad hair loss?

The best way to find the best products for your hair is to try them all. That would be pretty expensive but go over to a friends house and use some of her stuff. See how it works, and just keep trying new things. Hair may work with products from this company and not that company....it's all trial and error.

If I can suggest something, I would suggest you try a hot oil treatment....for a cheaper way to have great soft and silky hair with less frizzies, warm up some olive oil (regular cooking stuff) in the microwave and massage it into your hair while it is dry. Wrap it up in a warm towel from the drier and sit for an hour or so. Maybe give yourself a facial at the same time. Then get in the shower, and shampoo out all the oil (because water won't get the oil out--oil and water don't mix) and then condition your hair. Viola! Beautiful silky hair.

The most key thing to protecting your locks is to stay away from all heat. Yep, that means no hairdrier, no straightner, no curling iron either....It's very hard not to advert to these products but just try it for a week. Don't blow dry your hair for a week....try it. I know it's hard not to but if you stay away from things with heat such as blow driers, curling irons, straightners, etc....you will notice a HUGE change in the feel and look of your hair. It will be so much more healthy.

Does the hair grow back once lost ??

I mean hair growing back in the bald spots or getting the thickness back ...assuming tht the person is not completely bald?? Answer will be greatly appreciated

Does the hair grow back once lost ??

Why did you lose the hair? Did you have chemotherapy? In that case it will grow back (hope you didn't). If it fell out because baldness runs in your family then I'm afraid it won't. There are many products out there to prevent hair loss, but I don't think any of them work unless they can change your genes (they can't!) They are a waste of money as far as I'm concerned. Luckily, baldness is in, and you can just go for that Charles Barkley look! The girls will love it! Best.

Does the hair grow back once lost ??

If you have lost hair due to stress, and you eliminate the stress, then it will in all likelihood grow back. It certainly depends on what caused it fall out in the first place. If its age or genetic predisposition then it may be very difficult to reverse it.The commercial product Rogaine (Minoxidil) supposedly has had success in re-growing hair. But you should consult your doctor prior to using it because there are adverse side-effects.

See the source below. though there are many.

What is the best shampoo for natural african hair?

I have this thick, natural african hair and i think my shapoo is not working for me anymore. I use the pantene prov 2 in 1 (shampoo and conditioner) but after a shower, i see so many bits of my hair break off. I want something that will leave my hair smooth, soft and detangled without losing any bits of it. Some help......anyone.....hairstylists??????

What is the best shampoo for natural african hair?

Natural African hair needs a lot of moisture because the hair's natural oils tend to get trapped in the scalp and don't travel to the scalp because of the tight curl pattern. Because of this, most shampoos on the market, like Pantene, only dry and damage black hair because they contain sulfates, glycols, and parabens that only dry the hair more!

I would suggest seriously looking at the ingredients in any shampoo before you buy them...even higher priced brands for black hair. I personall recommend only Beauty 4 Ashes GodHead shampoos, which are all natural and have natural oils thick, african hair needs to grow, stay moisturized, soft, and detangled (wwwdiscoverb4acom). After one wash, you will immediately notice a difference in your hair. You may have to pay more for it..but for the amount you get, 16-20 ounces, you are paying a similar price to buying Carol's Daughter shampoos. Carol's Daughter products are about 90% all natural, but do contain some drying ingredients (wwwcarolsdaughtercom)

Also, consider deep conditioning your hair after every wash. Here is a simple recipe:

1/2 cup of mayo

1 egg

1 teaspoon of honey

1 teaspoon of olive oil

Mix it together. Apply it to your hair and let it sit on it for 15-30 minutes. Your hair will stop breaking.

What are the common causes for female hair loss?

I've always had a lot of healthy hair on my head.

Recently I've been loosing hair like crazy - within last 2 months I've lost about 25% of my hair. I'm a 33 year old female in good physical condition.

What can be causing it?

What are the common causes for female hair loss?

Experts say our tresses usually grow at the rate of about one-half inch per month -- with each hair having a growth phase of two to six years. At that point the hair "rests" for a period of time, then falls out -- and the follicle from which it sprang soon starts growing a new strand. And so the cycle continues, usually well into our senior years.

In some folks, however -- those with a genetic predisposition to hair loss -- a group of hormones called androgens interferes with this natural process. According to dermatologist Michael Reed, MD, androgen hormones include testosterone, androsteinedione, and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) -- all of which are made in men's bodies in large amounts, and in women's bodies in small amounts.

In those who are genetically susceptible, when testosterone comes in contact with enzymes residing in the hair cell, it is converted into the more potent androgen DHT, which then binds with receptors deep within the hair follicle.

"Over time, an excess build-up [of DHT] in the follicle causes it to begin shrinking, which in turn alters the natural resting and growth phases of the hair," says Reed, clinical associate professor of dermatology at NYU Medical Center, and a specialist in female hair loss. Some of the follicles eventually die, while others are rendered incapable of producing or maintaining healthy hair growth. The end result, says Reed, is hair loss -- and a condition that is medically known as androgenic alopecia.

For many decades, doctors believed that androgenic alopecia was the primary cause of balding in both men and women. Today they know this is not true -- at least where women are concerned.

Female, Male Balding Not the Same Pattern

"We don't even like to use the term 'androgenic alopecia' in women anymore -- instead we call it female pattern hair loss -- a broader term that encompasses many possible causes, some of which are likely to be directly linked to an excess of testosterone, and some of which are not," Daly tells WebMD.

Indeed, he says that although the science of female balding is still largely misunderstood, there is evidence that many other types of enzymes, as well as hormone receptors and blockers, may be at work in women.

One clue that there is a true difference between male and female balding is the pattern in which the hair loss occurs.

"Female pattern balding goes around the whole top of the head -- it's diffuse -- whereas men lose it on the temple, the crown, the bald spot in the back," says Daly. Not coincidentally, the hormone and enzyme receptor sites are also different in varying areas of the scalp -- another reason doctors now believe the loss patterns are caused by different precipitating factors.

Another important difference: While balding in men is almost always the result a genetic predisposition coupled with age, in women, it can happen at any time. In addition, underlying medical conditions can also be the cause of hair loss -- even when true androgenic alopecia is the diagnosis.

Medical Causes Common

"Often these women are also suffering with polycystic ovary syndrome, [a common hormonal problem in women], and sometimes their hair loss is the only obvious sign," says Ricardo Azziz, MD, director of the Center for Androgen-Related Disorders at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

In addition, Daly reports that certain types of autoimmune disorders result in a slightly different and often less dramatic hair loss problem known as alopecia areata -- an inflammatory condition that causes hair to come out in clumps or patches.

Still others can develop a temporary hair shedding problem known as telogen effluvium -- a change in the natural hair growth system that often follows childbirth, crash dieting, surgery, or a traumatic emotional event.

Azizz adds that thyroid disorders, anemia, even chronic illness or the use of certain medications can also cause hair loss in women that is often undiagnosed.

For these reasons, specialists say it's vital for all women to get at the "root" of their hair loss before seeking treatment.

"The No. 1 rule of treating hair loss in women is getting the correct diagnosis -- if there is an underlying physical problem it has to be corrected first," says Reed. Often, he says, that can preclude the need for additional hair loss treatment. As such, he advises women to see a doctor who specializes in female pattern balding and make certain to be checked for possible underlying medical conditions via blood tests, or if need be, a scalp biopsy.

"Often the diagnosis is made by excluding what problem isn't there -- but it's still essential to do the complete workup," says Daly.

What are the common causes for female hair loss?

What are the common causes for female hair loss?

What are the common causes for female hair loss?

Are you stressed? If not, go to the doctor to see if alopecia.

What are the common causes for female hair loss?

HEALTH. You need some vitamins!

What are the common causes for female hair loss?

medication or heredity

What are the common causes for female hair loss?

there can be a number of reasons. Stress is usually a big one. also things like an after effect to something. for example, my mum suffered hair loss after she had a operation on her bowel. My friend also suffered hair loss after sitting her exams. If you have no worries or problems or stress then you need to see a doctor to see what causing it.

What are the common causes for female hair loss?

Most common cause is decreased thyroid hormone!!! You also need to take vitamin pantothenic acid, a very inexpensive vitamin.

What are the common causes for female hair loss?

cancer, stress, major weight loss or weight gain

What are the common causes for female hair loss?

Hi dont know what causes it but my bird could do with it, she has an 80's muff and a huge bum rug please help the monkey bastard for me!! she wont shave

p.s I can live with the legs and moustache

What are the common causes for female hair loss?

There could be many reasons why you are loosing your hair: Stress %26amp; Hormonal changes can cause hair loss, especially Hypothyroid (this includes loosing the outer edges of your eyebrows). Go get a check-up %26amp; see what's going on with you.

About my hair!!!! serious question.?

okay, my hair is really thin and i know it's not because of my age because i'm only 23 years old. well, i always wear my hair up in a bun on my head or whatever but it's always up, and thats because i see it's gotton very very thin over these past like 3 years. i have no ideal why? i just know it's very stressful and annoying. it won't grow any, and i used this hair product for regrowth, but it didnt work.

Do you think i could have something, like a cist in my head or can weight gain, poor diet cause this. i dont know but if i decide to go to the Doctor, what kind of Doctor should i see?????

I also, have this red kinda inflammed little tiny circle on my head, and it's been there for the longest and wont go away. I also lose a lot of hair wheni wash it. when i lift my hair up in the back to see it in the mirror, i can see the root, it looks like theres only 1 hair coming out each hair follicle. =[

What should i do? What do u think it is??

Thank You So Much! Take Care!

About my hair!!!! serious question.?

Start with a general practitioner and have them check out that circle as well as diet.

But also expect them to check your thyroid!

About my hair!!!! serious question.?

Have you ever had ringworms???

If so then you might have itched your head and

got one in there and they cause hairloss!!

Try not to put up your hair up so much it breaks the

hair off . You could also try this hair stuff I think its something

like mayonaise you can buy it from Sally's or some other Beauty Mart. However that stuff makes your hair stink sometimes but it will grow more and thicker

About my hair!!!! serious question.?

You need to go see a doctor because you could have ringworm, which is a nasty little bacteria. I have very thin hair too, and i lose a lot when i wash and brush. you might want to take your hair down from that bun and let it breath some.... it's probably being pulled to tight, and hair being up all the time, isn't always healthy for it. when you get done washing your hair i suggest you let it air dry before brushing it, and then brushing it with a comb. especially if you have thin hair, brush aren't for you, they're for people with hair that can break combs. haha. also when buying a comb pick one with wide space between the teeth... it's just better for your hair. don't use shampoos like pantene pro v because shampoos like that make you lose hair. just really start to take care of it better. and see a doctor about that rash.

About my hair!!!! serious question.?

See your dr. Your regular dr. or your endocrinologist. This is a symptom of hypothyroidism. You could have written a page in my book.

TX Mom

not a dr.

About my hair!!!! serious question.?

if you take prenatal vitamins they will make your hair grow fast and cause it to thicken. but you should also check with a doctor to make sure there isn't a serious cause of your hair loss.

My Coton de Tulear won't wear hair clips! What do I do?

I have an adorable little Coton who REFUSES to keep her hair out of her eyes. We don't want to butch it off because it'd be a little bit homely on her. :)

While she does look adorable when it falls in her eyes, we really try to keep it clipped back. But we're losing clips left and right -- and hair ties and barrettes! She rubs her head into the ground until she's freed her hair. We're not pulling it back too tightly (trust me, her eyes start bugging out if we do!).

What can we do? Is there some sort of puppydog glue to get it cowlicked into place? She has hair, not fur, so would that make a difference? My sister keeps joking that I need to hot glue it into place ... if that weren't cruel, I'd do it today! I'm so frustrated with all the extra grooming I do every day just because she wants to be half-blind.

How do you keep your long-haired dogs beautiful and still able to see?

My Coton de Tulear won't wear hair clips! What do I do?

Well, actually if you found a good nontoxic glue, you could probably use it... People glue german shepherd ears to get them to stand up... It might be the same basic principle... But don't quote me on that.

Just be persistant. Eventually, hopefully, she might realize it's worth having her hair tied back. If not, I'm afraid cutting it might be the best solution.

My Coton de Tulear won't wear hair clips! What do I do?

just show your dog what is like not to see. eventually she will see that she wants to see!

Can I make my hair thinner?

I have newly dyed blonde hair that goes a few inches past my shoulders. It is EXTREMELY thick and makes it hard to straighten and styl. Is there anything I (or my stylist) can do to make my hair slightly thinner without losing length or affecting my hair color?

Can I make my hair thinner?

don't let your stylist use a razor on your newly bleached hair, it will only split the ends. And if you don't want layers try getting it thinned with thinning shears, your stylist should know how to use them. Don't over thin it and don't thin every time you get a trim.

Can I make my hair thinner?

you could always brush it down really flat..like blow dry it flat

or get a few layers in there done with a razor. it really works and looks good too!

Can I make my hair thinner?

Getting layers will make it feel thinner without losing the color.

Can I make my hair thinner?

Your stylist should be able to thin your hair - it isn't a difficult process and won't affect either the length or the color of your hair.

Can I make my hair thinner?

Yes, they have special thinning scissors that work! My friend also made her hair thin by using a razor... but im not sure how she did it!

You can get your hair thinned at most hairdressers, but ask them what would suit your dye job best!

Good luck.!

Can I make my hair thinner?

I have the exact same problem but I go to the salon and have them thin it with thinning shears.

Oil necessary for Hair?

I am losing a lot of Hair (around 40 - 50 strands a day). It might be the onset of MPB. I consulted a well known homeopathic chain here in India (Dr Batras) for slowing down the hair fall. Among other prescription they have asked me NOT to put any oil in hair.

I thought that oil is necessary for hair strength. Should i continue oiling my hair? I use olive oil once - twice a week.

Oil necessary for Hair?

the oil may be coating your scalp not allowing any nutrients to get to your hair's root also it wouldnt be good to go in the sun with oil on your hair. hairloss is caused by sun damage, stress, poor diet and hereditary. the thing i know of that works is alterna life restore shampoo, conditioner and scalp serum. i am a hair stylist and the 25-35 guest i have using this product noticed a difference in 6-8 weeks the hair began feeling thicker and more healthier. if your hairs follicle isnt completely dead hair will still grow from it. and the difference with this product is that once you stop using it your hair will not fall out. becuase it eliminates the DHT that is keeping your hair from growing. well hope your try it and good luck to you.

Oil necessary for Hair?

oil is supposed to be good for your hair in moderation

Oil necessary for Hair?

no. But if you drink alot of die soda and splenda and stuff that could be the reason. Also, don't use olive oil use

Oil necessary for Hair?

Olive oil might be your worst nighthair!

Oil necessary for Hair?

maybe its too late for olive oil

Oil necessary for Hair?

it's not that strange to lose 40-50 strands a day. some people even lose 100! I don't think oil is so necessary for your hair since your body already produces them, but if your hair has split ends, you should keep using the olive oil. but too oily is not good!

Oil necessary for Hair?

your body makes its own oils

Oil necessary for Hair?

funny you should mention oil as I've just started an olive oil treatment that includes ten oil treatments per month on recommendation from a pre-med student. My hair fallage is less but the real reason is the scalp for folliculitis. And the oil seems to be improving this as well ....

Oil necessary for Hair?

Natural homemade remedies-Do Hot oil massage, protien

Oil necessary for Hair?

- Olive oil is definatly good for hair as its the only oil that nourishes the scalp without preventing the normal exchang and functions of scalp and skin, completely natural and have been tested over the years.

- keep in mind :

that using the oil on hair is different from using it on the scalp, to use it on scalp "for dry skin and scalp"it should be warm or used as hot oil treatment. If your hair is naturally oily, avoid applying the olive oil to the hair closest to your scalp .

Olive oil is mild acidic in nature "Don't panic" it helps to straighten hair and reduce brakes, but generally its used for dry hair

- but if a specialet says you should not use it you should simply ask him / her why??

if you have an oily skin its recommended not to use oil for your hair

,as it has its natural oils.in fact it will have a revers effect

and in general loosing up to 100 strands of hair is normal and its called normal shedding.

Oil necessary for Hair?

It really depends, but adding moisture to your hair, is a must. Adding a hair cream/oil stops the hair from becoming dry, brittle, damage. Also adding a hair dressing to your hair and scalp provides minerals and vitamins which promotes hair growth.

Does hair loss due to stress ever re-grow?

last august my husband fell, went into a coma for 3 1/2 weeks, and ultimately died. during his coma and for about a month after his death i lost quite a bit of hair, i believe it was due to the stress i was going through during this tragic time.

That's awful, I'm so sorry for your loss. Definitely periods of stress can cause hair loss (or so my hairdresser has told me anyway). I can't tell you if it will regrow or not. Maybe you should try a hair loss supplement or something to help it. I've heard that Provillus for women is good. There's a mention of the product on this website http://www.reversinghairloss.net - Provillus do separate products for men and women

Why am I loosing so much hair?

It started coming out quite a bit back in August and it just keeps falling out. I've lost like half of my hair and it's really freaking me out. I'm a girl and I'm only 19 years old. I've been reading online all of these natural vitamin things I can do at home, but any ideas on why this is happening? I have dyed my hair quite a bit, but not recently, and I never blow dry or straighten it. My hair isn't breaking, it's coming out at the root. It's always been thick and healthy and now its very thin and tangled. I'm doing my best to keep it up but I'm wondering if I should be more concerned.

well i think that maybe its because u dye ur hair so much or maybe ur scalp is pealing i'm not surebut thats what i think

Why am I loosing so much hair?

You may have hereditary hair loss. did either of your parents loose any of their hair?

Why am I loosing so much hair?

Vitamin or protein deficiencies may cause hair loss, or if your body is going through other changes, such as a dramatic weight loss over the past few months. Make sure you take a daily vitamin and get plenty of protein, and your hair should return, many times in better shape than before!

Why am I loosing so much hair?

I've got the same problem you described I'm 20 yrs old i dyed my hair twice in 8 mos since i dyed my hair I've started loosing them alot before i that i had a really thick and full set of hair now they look just like yours. So, first i thought that i've been eating vegetables for a while may be its happening because i'm not getting enough protein and iron so i started milk, meat and iron tablets nothing improved so just yesterday i came to know that when you dye your hair they need to be moisturized as often as possible because dye make scalp and hair very dry so I'm gonna use conditioner alot now and i recommend you the same put some olive or coconut oil in your hair too overnight.

I hope my ans will help you.

Goodluck

Why am I loosing so much hair?

the first thing u should do in the morning is that splash tap water on closed eyes for 2 minutes.

Do yoga (pranayam) as instructed by ramdev baba on tv. i'd same problem as urs but now my hair fall has reduced in just 15 days. Also use hair oil available at ramdev's ayurvedic stores.

Never comb wet hair.

use hair softener before combing hair like livon.

In morning, take i glass juice of dudi(or loki, ghiya) + amla + apple mixed. it really works very quickly. if u cant prepare at home than amla juice is available at ramdev stores and just u have to prepare juice of unboiled (raw) dudi in juicer. and eat apple as such with it if u cant make juice of it. this one will really work.

try to protect ur hair from dust, sunlight for that use scarf.

apply mendi + amla shikakai aretha + egg twice a month.

eat protien rich diet like beans, chana, sprouts, pulses.

milk is very important for hairs. so atleast take i cup milk everyday.

remember only following any one of these may not help you completely. try to follow as many as of above u can do. and they are not very difficult also. i've followed all this n got really nice results , i'm sure they'll help you also.

take care n please reply if r benefited by my suggestions...

Why is my hair falling!!??

I'm 14 and I have straight hair but sometimes it gets a lotle curly.. I use a hair straightener once every 2, 3 days only for my bangs, and I lose a lot of hair! everytme I pass my fingers through my hair I get a lot of hair.. and when I take a bath and I untangle my hair, I feel scared to see that much hair in my comb! why is this happening and what can I do??? please help! girls in my class sometimes make comments about the 4 or 5 strings of hair in my t-shirts

Why is my hair falling!!??

Do you have a lot of Stress at home or school this could be a major factor

if you add colouring to your hair that could be it also Your hair straightener burns your hair

Why is my hair falling!!??

Maybe it's a hereditary problem regarding baldness.

Why is my hair falling!!??

well...I have like the same thing and yea ATON of my hair falls out tooo!

my mom suggested I get a haircut and I got one.....less hair started falling out and now it long and doesnt fall out as muchh....but I can't guarntee if you get a haircut It stops A Ton of hair from falling out......I use to starighten my hair alot too [especially on my bangs] but don't worrryyyy so much...you won't go bald! mabye you should tell you mom to see a dermatologist!.....mabye its too much stress too! but you should change your hair product...because sometimes thats it.....does your mom have itt to...like alot of hair falling out?...because my mom like has that problem

I still have some hair falling out whenever i run my fingers thruogh it

I hope I helped!

:]

-roxyyyy

Why is my hair falling!!??

I am also 14 and my hair never falls only sometimes

Curly hair are beautiful .

Do not use hair straightener it is bad for hair and its growth,

Frist go and have a trim of your hair because by trimming ur hair will remove deads hair cells for your hair which become heavy to hold the from root of hair .Shampoo your hair thrice a week,do not mess it ,Do shampoo gentley to your hair.

Why is my hair falling!!??

This could be so many different things. I get this problem too. First, the most common cause is stress. Even if this didn't start as a stress issue, it probably is a contributor now! It's scarey loosing hair! Try to relax. Second, you're 14, your hormones are crazy, drops %26amp; rises in estrogen can cause hair loss. (this was one of my issues). Try taking a daily vitamin--E is good for hair growth %26amp; increase your protien intake. (Luna health bars are good %26amp; have protien). You could even talk to a DR about going on prenatal vitiamins for awhile--they promote hair growth, but I dont know if this is likely for a 14 yr old. Last, go to a good hair stylist %26amp; see if you can get your hair straightened chemically--then have him/her recommend some products that help you with what you've got. A good stylist can also tell you if you are damaging your hair--I doubt it but it will decrease your stress knowing for sure! Remember, no products will stop hair loss, but feeling good about what you've got will relax you %26amp; loss will decrease as your stress is aliviated!

Good Luck!

Why is my hair falling!!??

okay, here's what u do: try to straighten ur hair less often cuz i think ur hair is falling out cuz it is too dry, from the straightener, another thing u could do is get a deep moisturizing conditioner, and a leave in conditioner, to help keep ur hair a little more healthy, but the best thing to do would be to get it cut so u can start growing healthy hair, because the hair that is falling out is a result of heat from the straightener.

Can hair extensions help you grow your hair?

my hair is badly damaged and im losing more and more length as i need to straighten it becausitsso big.i am getting braided extensions can it halp me grow myhair?

Can hair extensions help you grow your hair?

nope. hair extensions cannot help grow hair.

Can hair extensions help you grow your hair?

No, it won't help your hair grow out but it will give you more ahir to work with until it does.

When it grows back out, you can still straighten it, just use a protective, moisturizing shampoo (back to basics).

Can hair extensions help you grow your hair?

no sorry it cant, and if you are afraid of more hair, then i wouldn't: hair extensions pull on your hair and scalp.

Can hair extensions help you grow your hair?

no, actually hair extentions make you lose more hair!! please dont use it unless you really have to, its bad for your real hair.

good luck :)

Can hair extensions help you grow your hair?

Nope, actually they stunt the growth of your hair. If your hair is damaged that bad I wouldnt put the extensions in your hair until you bring your hair into a good condition. You need to do deep conditioning treatments or cholesterol treatments to your hair twice a week. You can get these at a beauty supplies store like sally beauty supplies. Also your gonna want to pick up a few processing caps to keep the heat in so it can get to the root and follicle of your hair and replenish the condition of your hair. Leave the treatment's on for 15 to 20 mins. Hope this helped! Good luck! =]

Can hair extensions help you grow your hair?

Hair extensions wont help it to grow. Vitamins B, C, F, zinc, iron, copper and protein are essential for hair growth. Drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of raw fruits and vegetables is probably the best way to achieving healthy hair.Try http://solutionsforhairgrowth.blogspot.c... for more details.

Why is hair under the arm-pit of both human males and females? What is the function of this hair?

The presence of hair is a mammalian character.Homo sapiens has lost most of the body hair. But still why do we have this uncomfortable arm-pit and pubic hair?

Why is hair under the arm-pit of both human males and females? What is the function of this hair?

As always, to understand things that humans have in their anatomies but that

have no apparent use [e.g., arm pit hairs] one needs to think about

evolutionary forebears and look to closely related species for clues. Two

levels to the response: the nature of those particular hairs and how they

serve to help advertize your basic adult [post-pubertal] human condition,

however masked by contemporary perfumes %26amp; deodorants. Hair is akin to fur

but without the insulative properties, and comes in generally coarse %26amp; fine

varieties. The particular coarse hairs which develop in the pubic area and

in the armpits arise at puberty [clue #1]. Hair follicles in these areas

have a type of sweat gland associated with them, called an apocrine gland,

that begins to function at puberty and is widely associated with

scent-communication via chemicals known as pheromones [clue #2]. Apocrine

glands produce an otherwise non-offensive secretion that now appears to be

homologous with animal sex-specific scents. Unfortunately its components are

broken down by bacteria to form odors associated with dirty locker room

smells. The arm pit hairs serve as extended surface from which these

volitile chemicals can be more efficiently broadcast. Scientific data

supporting the presence %26amp; effect of human pheromones have become more

substantial in the last couple of years. Interestingly, perfume companies

have recently begun playing up the nature of human pheromones!

My hair is straight but it doesn't have much shape or body. I've never been a girly girl s

I have shoulder length hair and would really like to know the secrets of how to get it looking amazing. My hair is straight and kinda fine but sometimes gets weird curls or waves that never seem to look right. I was thinking maybe I need a straightening iron? Or a hair product. I really don't know anything about this (ironic because my mom was a stylist before she passed away) Any tips ideas or advise is GREATLY appreciated! I really need something easy to do because I have 1 year old twins and do not get much time for beauty. I just lost 70 pounds and want hair to match my new size 4 body!!! Thanks!

My hair is straight but it doesn't have much shape or body. I've never been a girly girl so I need advise.

Congrats on the weight loss! Here's a few things you can do:

The straightening iron is a good thought...I have one myself, as I have a few small places in my hair that will get wavy or even slightly curly, even though my hair is stick-straight for the most part.

You could also get some long layers on the front sides, and the back. It will add some movement to your hair, and all you really have to do is blowdry it. Or if you had time, you could curl the ends that are layered upward to add some extra definition to your hair. I started getting mine cut with long layers on the sides and the back awhile back, and it really spruced up my super straight hair...I had actually been considering cutting a lot of my hair off til I tried layers. It gave me enough of a change that I decided I still loved my long hair.

Also, try some shampoos/conditioners/treatments that are made for volumizing. I have super fine long hair, and my absolute favorite shampoo and conditioner is Body Double by Sebastian. It's a bit pricey if you don't catch the 2 liters for $25 sale, but it works great!

My hair is straight but it doesn't have much shape or body. I've never been a girly girl so I need advise.

I would say get a hair straightner so you get rid of the weird waves/curls. this will help a lot.

Other than that you can add a headband which looks good =D

My hair is straight but it doesn't have much shape or body. I've never been a girly girl so I need advise.

try putting moose in your hair and scrunching it up, and then let it dry, it will give more body.

My hair is straight but it doesn't have much shape or body. I've never been a girly girl so I need advise.

A really cute new style is to do short hair and stack the back with side bangs!

It makes your hair look thicker!

My hair is straight but it doesn't have much shape or body. I've never been a girly girl so I need advise.

To get shape and body I would get a really good shampoo and conditioner. In my opinion spending extra money on good hair products is worth it. I like Bumble and Bumble products. You should also get some simple layers in your hair since it is fine. Nothing fancy so they won't be hard to take care of. And finally a good ceramic flat iron. I always had the hardest time with my hair until my best friend became a stylist and now has the best advice ever so I know what you're dealing with. Congrats on the weight loss and twins that's something to proud of and show off. Good luck!

Hair straighteners taking body out of hair?

I've been straighting for at least three years now. When I first started to straighten I was in love with the fact that my hair was so sleek and flat. My whole life I had huge curly, wavey, poofy, frizzy hair that I couldn't tame. When I was 16 and finaly got my hands on a straightner, I was in heaven. I've used a basic conair flat iron that has been working great but latley I've started to notice that my hair seems to be losing body. When I don't strighten my hair it isn't nearly as curly as it use to be. When I do strighten it's really flat, thin, and almost scragly. In previous years when I would flat iron my hair, it would lay flat but still be thick and look full. Now it looks really dull and thin but I still feel inclined to straighten it because it still gets frizzy. Has anyone else notice this happening to their hair? Is there a product out there that will make my hair strait but also give me body? Will the natural body of my hair ever be restored? Please Help!

Hair straighteners taking body out of hair?

this has never happened to my hair.... don't straighten it for AWHILE if you want the curls back. Mine stayed straight for awhile after I stopped, but then it got back to normal.. Heat can make hair stay a certain way for while.. Just do what you normally do without straightening it.

Can hair products go bad?

I've had this treatment for 3 years it cost $55 and it came with a cream condtioner. There two big bottles and I guess I havnt used it much thats why it has lasted SO LONG. I bought it from a hair salon. It comes with an oil treatment that is for your skin, nails, hair and you can even add it to your colour mixture when you dye your hair to replace all the fatty acids that are lost due to dying your hair.

So can I still use this or is too old?

Can hair products go bad?

You probably can, just shake it really well first ;)

Can hair products go bad?

ok they can go bad but it isnt like it is going to destroy your hair or something give it a shot if it doesn't work toss it and get some new stuff...

More hair questions...?

Okay, well this is a question on behalf of my friend, who has lost all hope with her hair.

She states quote

" My hair is so thick it takes about 3 hours plus to dry it. if i wash my hair now ( the time was 10-ish) then it will be fully dry by 3 or so. and i cant do anything with it. i have tried to thin it out but it never works. and when i straighten it gets so frizzy, that it doesnt look like i did it. UGH! i just want to cut it all off"

no i really dont want to suggest she pull a Brittany Spears, but i want to help her. we are best friends and i can have tried to help her with anything she needs, and now i cant because of her hair? yeah i know it prolly sounds rediculous, but when you have been friends for 11 years.. yeah.

thanks so much, tips- instructions- and pics would be rad.

x) thanks so much.

More hair questions...?

i doubt it takes that long to dry ur hair using a hair dryer .

but tell her to try drying her hair in sections .

More hair questions...?

go to a salon. tell them to take the bulk out. and tell her to quit whining!!!! and maybe taking some length off wouldnt hurt, it it takes that long to dry!!

I am just 21 and have already lost so much of hair . . . please help?

O my, You're too young for losing hair, Hey i think you're ok, It's nothing that serious to be concerned of. You need some vitamins for your hair, like A %26amp; E. My cousin had this prob, she was abt your age, I tell you she was OK after she had this Vitamins (for about after 3 months when she started the dose).

So be Cool, Don't make it fall faster and more by taking it too seriously. Goodluck!

I just combed out my dreads and now my hair is super-thin...?

..I just was wondering if anyone knows how long it will take to thicken up? I have seen some people on here say "It never will" but I don't see how pulling out some hair would make it never grow back. I mean when you rip out a particularly nasty knot and lose some hair it grows back so why shouldn't the hair I lost from combing out dreads? If anyone has gone through this please reply, Thanks :)

I just combed out my dreads and now my hair is super-thin...?

Actually, it can never grow back, it depends on how it was ripped out. If the whole cuticle came with it, it's not growing back. Did you notice a bud at the end of the hairs that came out? That's a cuticle. If it just snapped somehwhere, even really cose to the top of the head, it'll grown back, but it's going to take some time. In general, if you want to get rid of dreads, cut them off, don't rip them out.

I just combed out my dreads and now my hair is super-thin...?

The hair that is there and thin won't miraculously get thicker, but in time it will grow back normal.

I just combed out my dreads and now my hair is super-thin...?

im assuming either 2 or 3 months..my hairdresser thined out my hair for summer and its just getting thicker now and its been...a month. but my hair is naturally very thick. good luck!

I just combed out my dreads and now my hair is super-thin...?

i have never had dreads but a lot of people that I know do have them and it takes a lot of time it takes months probably longer depending on type of hair.

How much hair is normal to lose when shampooing and detangling?

well, when i wash mine, which isz about evey 3-4 daysz, only a few strandsz come out. i dont think thatsz good when a handful of hair comesz out. You should probably try combing it gently with a wide toothe comb so less hair comesz out.

How much hair is normal to lose when shampooing and detangling?

I used to have the same problem. I found that brushing my hair everyday helps it from coming out so much. Put some coconut oil in it and brush it and it looks really good and soft. Very easy to manage. You also may want to try a protein pack, if you're hair is styled in a way that you can't brush it every night.

Who thinks this hair loss trick will work for male pattern baldness in men?

O.K., there's a chinese philosophy on male pattern baldness in men is the reason they're bald even though it may be heredity is because of lack of blood flow to the scalp. O.K., now check this out, whenever I eat something spicy and hot. Such as Jalapeno peppers I always sweat at the top of my scalp very much and when I do this I know for a fact that my pores are open and blood flow is definitely at the top of my scalp. Along with using hair grease to make hair grow at the time of eating Jalapeno peppers or anything spicy. Do you think that the hair in my scalp can possibly come back? What do you think? I'm going to try it regardless if my hair grows back. Man, I will be so happy. I'm 30 years old and still can get my full head of hair back after 7 years of losing it.

Who thinks this hair loss trick will work for male pattern baldness in men?

I worked in a salon that did hair replacements, and we sold an herbal cream that was supposed to grow back new hair. My job was to apply the cream and take photos of the progress. It did bring some new hair growth, but fell short of looking like a luxurious head of hair. However, the clients were very pleased with the results. Even stopping the loss was a good thing.

There was nothing that special in the herbal balm, it was more the action of massaging your scalp everyday. It certainly can't hurt, and it won't cost you anything to try.

Who thinks this hair loss trick will work for male pattern baldness in men?

I don't get it w/ people trying to grow hair when they can't. Maybe because I havn't gotten there. Anyway, you can't grow hair if it ain't there. You can implant hair or make it look like it, but you AREN"T going to grow it. Either get implants, wig or shave it off. Hope it helps.

I am very sad..........serious hair problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Hair is made out of the amino acid cysteine. You get cysteine from eggs, they contain the most, but other foods contain cysteine as well. Brittle hair usually means it's not getting enough of what it is made of, in the case of hair, your hair is made by your body and the cheif ingredient needed by your body to produce hair is cysteine.

Cysteine is found in most high-protein foods, including:

Animal sources: eggs, milk, whey protein, ricotta, cottage cheese, yogurt, pork, sausage meat, chicken, turkey, duck, luncheon meat

Vegetarian sources: red peppers, garlic, onions, broccoli, brussel sprouts, oats, granola, wheat germ.

Boys, curly hair?

My friend, who is a boy, wants curly hair like this.

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l209/j...

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l209/j...

his hair is just about the same size, but its just a very little bit curly.

He told me when he washes his hair it gets curly, but when he dries it, his hair gets smaller and loses the curls. Same thing happens when he uses gel, and hairspray (i made him use mines :) ). it just gets smaller and loses curls when it dries.

any suggestions?

Boys, curly hair?

you mean nappy?

curls come naturally.

let him go to Sally's Beauty Supply store and

get products.

his hair must grow longer

Boys, curly hair?

rhomust....that's not nappy and ur kinda rude. Report It

Boys, curly hair?

hair spray

but i think natural hair is way better

than that

Boys, curly hair?

how about using some baby oil! when his hair is wet tell him rub the oil in that might work!!

Boys, curly hair?

This may sound stupid but....

Don't blow dry it. Towel dry it and then, like the answerer before me, put some baby oil on it. He could also go to a Panupoulous Salon and they have free gift cards they give out and he could go there....

What should I put for reasearch on a hair hygrometer?

Okay so I am doing my science project. I went to this thing called Sciencebuddies.org and I made a hygrometer using hair strands.

I lost my research paper. Can anyone help me with the background reaseach? Please!

I've got a fever at the moment. And I am very tired. I've been searching on the internet for like two hours! Please, please, please tell me what I need to have for the background research.

What should I put for reasearch on a hair hygrometer?

Use The Scientific Method

The Scientific Method consists of:

1.Ask a Question

2.Do Background Research (webpage below)

3.Construct a Hypothesis

4.Test Your Hypothesis by Doing an Experiment

5.Analyze Your Data and Draw aConclusion

6.Communicate Your Results

Since the hygrometer is your experiment only you know the questions and the results.

But this webpage will tell you how to what to look for, what to do and how to organize it.

You must be sick and tired as you missed this webpage that is on the same website that you were on.

Hope you feel better.

My 2 month old has lost most of his hair because of cradle cap what can i do to lift it from his bal

he has little to no hair left but the cradle cap is very noticable and i dont want to harm him while trying to scrub it out with my hands and i cant comb his scalp so what should i do please help

My 2 month old has lost most of his hair because of cradle cap what can i do to lift it from his bald scalp?

we used vaseline and a fine tooth comb on our son. it really works. just massage the vaseline in, and gently comb through. then, wash his hair. it may make his scalp a little greasy, but that goes away and it works.

My 2 month old has lost most of his hair because of cradle cap what can i do to lift it from his bald scalp?

for the scalp, you can massage in olive oil or baby oil, then gently comb or brush out the flakes. This isn't a cure, however, and the crusts generally keep building back up again for the whole first year of life. You can get rid of cradle cap once and for all using dandruff shampoo (either a selenium or a tar based shampoo is fine) twice a week for several weeks. You can decrease the frequency as the condition improves. You may need to use it once a month or so to keep the "dandruff" away.

My 2 month old has lost most of his hair because of cradle cap what can i do to lift it from his bald scalp?

You can use mineral oil thats what my daughters doctor told me to use and it worked very well

My 2 month old has lost most of his hair because of cradle cap what can i do to lift it from his bald scalp?

Oh my son was bald after losing his hair to what i thought was cradle cap and it wasnt .It was ezema. so be for sure.If its really cradle cap you could use a baby washcloth.Dont worry about your babys looks right now.You say you cant comb his scalp thats why I think it could be ezema and you could try the mineral oil just dont use too much. My baby looked awful but he grew out of it.be very gentle.Be sure to talk to his doctor about it.

Does anyone have experience in using Saw Palmetto for hair growth in men?

I have been reading on it and from what i understand it can stunt hair loss and sometimes replenish some hair that was lost in men. Loooking for options for my young, balding husband.

Thanks

Does anyone have experience in using Saw Palmetto for hair growth in men?

saw palmetto does effect how DHT is formed and to an extent how much may bind to the androgen receptor but there is a lot more to hair loss than that. for hair loss saw palmetto isn't going to have an effect.

Hair Loss Because of PANTENE PRO-V?

I purchased pantene pro-v almost 5 months ago and as with any new shampoo/conditioner, I saw "great" results for the first month. However, slowly I started to notice the build-up in my hair and whenever I went to shampoo/conditioner, I would lose a large amount of hair.

I'm assuming this was because of the pantene pro-v because I've stopped with it and my hair loss has stopped as well.

Perhaps I'm paranoid but to me it seems as the the top front portion of my hair has thinned very much, will my hair regrow in that area? Has PANTENE screwed me royally?

Hair Loss Because of PANTENE PRO-V?

I'm currently using Pantene pro-v and it works perfectly fine for me. I kinda like it.

Hmm... As for your hair, maybe pantene is not suitable for your hair. However, the excess hair fall might be due to other factors. If the condition worsens and if you continue experiencing more hair loss, try visiting a specialist to get it cured.

Hair Loss Because of PANTENE PRO-V?

Yep

Hair Loss Because of PANTENE PRO-V?

actually the exact smaethign happend to my friend, i think her hair grew back

but now she uses aussi shampoo and conditioner

Hair Loss Because of PANTENE PRO-V?

Omg yes! i work in a beauty salon and alot of clients complain about hair loss. The first question i ask is what brand of shampoo and conditioner they're using, and they always say pantene! Pantene contains wax in it. Ugh, that so not good for the hair! I dont know but whatever it is that's in the shampoo and conditioner, it is making people's hair fall out. i dont recommend that anyone uses that brand of shampoo or conditioner or any product of pantene for that reason!

Hair Loss Because of PANTENE PRO-V?

A few years ago a good friend of mine had the same thing happen to her.She called the 1-800 number on the back of the bottle and they told her to stop usage of the product and that she was allergic to Pantene.

Hair Loss Because of PANTENE PRO-V?

weird! the same thing happened to me, so i switched to my old shampoo and my hair is growing back fine.

Hair Loss Because of PANTENE PRO-V?

i learned in beauty school that pantene is HORRIBLE for your hair! it is.i know, i used to use a few years ago. If you can still smell the shampoo after you shower, it's a bad thing, cause that means there is build up in your hair. go with salon products. NIOXIN shampoo works reaaally good for thinning hair. i use it. i don't like that smell, but its awesome. i buy the travel size pantene bottles and brush my nails with them lol. they make my nails grow super fast!
