My 2 1/2 yr old long hair Doxie has lost her fur on her belly, neck and a on her butt. Why?

She could be getting old and losing her hair, although shes not that old. Is she scratching alot? She could have a flea problem, like shes allergic to them, my Pom Max was and he lost fur because of it. She could also be allergic to something you put on her, have you tried a new perfume on her recently? or anything scented, even her food she could be having an allergic reaction to it.

Good luck!

It could be a problem with her thyroid. Have her checked by a vet.

Could be allergies, or stress, or any other number of problems. Take her to the vet.

This happened to my cat. He's nervous and he licks his stomach and legs constantly. Definitely get this checked out by a vet.

My cat had the same thing happen to her. The vet thought it could be one of several things, so I will give them to you so you can review and rule out:

1. flea allergy

2. food allergy

3. stress (from another animal in the house, etc, ours was from her being in heat all the time because she wasn't fixed--she was licking the fur off).

before taking dog to vet, put on a flea treatment program.

if you suspect food allergy, change to a completely different food that has none of the same ingredients. we went holistic, instead of beef, chicken, fish, it's duckmeal, vegs with trace of chicken.

it takes i think about a month, if it's a food allergy for the food to get completely out of the animals system.

happy to say that we did all of the above, and our cat, now has FUR!

Well ,could be mange which is a tiny parasite infection. She will need antibiotics for that. Or maybe fleas which is causing her to scratch the fur off.To check for fleas run a fine tooth comb through her hair, if you see little specks of black stuff that is flea dirt.

you need to get her to a vet. Sounds like hot spots and they will continue to spread
