Vegetarian and hair loss?

I've been a vegetarian for almost a year now and I'm recently losing a lot of hair...and I mean it just falls out painlessly in small chunks. I'm worried that this is related to me being a vegetarian. Is it, and what can I do about it?

Vegetarian and hair loss?

Most likely you are experiencing telogen effluvium. It is generally self limiting.

Check your vitamin supplement for "vitamin A". If the label says retinol palmitate be aware that it is an essential metabolite, not really a vitamin and it has been been linked to hair loss. Beta carotene is the true vitamin A and it's non toxic and plentiful in pigmented plant foods. Nature's Life Vegetarian Super Mega Vite is the only supplement I can recommend from experience. Its "vitamin A" is beta carotene. Zinc deficiency has also been linked to hair loss and since zinc is a limiting nutrient on a veg*n diet a 15-30 mg zinc supplement might be worth a try.

it has nothing to do with being vegterian. go to a kaiser or something a get a doctor to give you this special shampooo. or cut your hair a bit.

WELL SISTA GURL I DON'T KNOW U NEED 2 GO CHECK THAT OUT.

Vegetarian and hair loss?

I've been a vegetarian for over 10 years and never had that problem. Are you eating nutritious meals?

Go to a doctor, it might be multiple things...

Vegetarian and hair loss?

could be, you need to make sure you are getting all of your vitamins and minerals if you are limited to just veggies.

Vegetarian and hair loss?

IT COULD BE A VITAMIN DEFICIENCY

Being vegetarian has nothing to do with you losing your beautiful hair. Just use a very good shampoo when you bathe. Use ''Garnier Frutis.''

10 bucks says it is. Your body is not getting what it needs. Honestly, you should go see a doctor and get tested for protein levels and all levels. Tell him your problem. Also, being a vegetarian can cause you to just not be as healthy. So a good alternative is a synthesized b-vitamin compound called Gh3 or procaine. It heals all cells on a cellular level. The concept being that any illness or disease is at a cellular level. Heal the cell, fix the problem. But it will definetly grow your hair back!

Vegetarian and hair loss?

the answer is yes and no. vegetarianism is not necessarily a cause for hair fall. the reason could be that you are not taking a balanced diet and not including enough protein and vitamins in your diet.

since you are saying that it is falling in chunks, there may be some underlying reasons.. like some skin allergy, dandruff etc. You will have to rule this out.

Start eating meat again. That's the only way to regain your hair.....and your health.

Vegetarian and hair loss?

I have been a vegetarian for 30 years without experiencing what you described. Review your diet to ensure that it is nutritionally balanced, and if it is, go see a doctor.

The human body needs animal flesh do be healthy. Haven't any of you ever noticed how sickly and weak vegetarians are? They can take all the damn vitamins in the world, but it's not the same. I have a very healthy immune system thanks to eating meat. I can donate my blood regularly because I have enough iron from eating meat. I don't get sick very often: I haven't thrown up in eight years. You may think that killing animals is wrong, but what about tigers and lions? Are you going to start locking them away if they eat a gazelle? Just like the big cats, us humans need meat too. Nice tender, juicy, succulent meat. Is your mouth watering yet? A steak isn't going to send you to Hell, people!

Vegetarian and hair loss?

this is just a gossip for obligating you eating meat... no, it is not the real reason see a dermatologue

Vegetarian and hair loss?

This also happened to me before and I'm also a vegetarian. I realized that I was under a lot of stress at that time which was causing me to loose my hair. I started rubbing fresh aloe vera into my scalp almost every night and soon realized my hair stopped falling out, now I have a bunch of baby hair's growing out.

Vegetarian and hair loss?

it means you are not eating the right foods to make up not for eating meat

Vegetarian and hair loss?

Been a vegetarian for a few years, can't say I've had anything of the such...
