Does anyone else find that their hair strengtheners lose their heat intensity over time?

I've only had mine about 4 months and I'm sure they're not as hot as when I first bought them.

Ok when searching for a good straitner first up do not buy the meatl ones buy the teflon coated ones they work wonders. I had a teflon coated curling iron for ages. I did a mates hair with it her hair is dead strait and the teflon sent it curly wavy.

And look for a product spray that helps to keep your hair straitened visit your hairdresser for that.

If they're starting to fade already I'd take them back to where you got them from. You can normally expect straighteners to last around a year at their hottest. Basically they just start burning out. However, sometimes its better not to have them too hot so you don't damage your hair as much, especially if you have either fine hair or you use them every day.

Noooo I have got GHD had them for about 2years.I'd recommend them to everyone.Worth every penny !

They have never lost the heat...

So it's worth to pay that bit extra for them...if you can't afford them, get ceramic one's...not ceramic coated x

I had a pair of straighteners that did loose their heat intensity but I have since investing in a pair of GHD ones and they are brilliant. I got them last Christmas and a swear that they get just as hot as the day I got them.

Get GHD ones, I know they a bit more expensive, but they are so worth it. I've had mine a couple of years and they still straighten my hair and it stay like it all day. Best investment.

One reason could be that it is getting coated with styling products or a build up of oils from your hair. They make a cleaner for heated styling aids that you use by spraying on the parts of that heat up and then when it is not hot, but warm you can wipe off. This will help it get hot and stay that way. Plus the cleaner will help ward away any build up for a good while later. If the build up is really bad, hairspray, gel, etc, you can use a fine nail file or emery board to "scratch" away the build up of the product. Or it could possibly be the brand you are using. If you go to a supply store that will let non-licensed people in you can get equipment that getws much hotter than any you can find in a regular store. Helen of Troy is one brand that is quite affordable and will get hot and stay geting hot for the life of the tool and you won't have to worry about the tool losing it's newness and not heating up properly. It will also cut your styling time in half because you won;t have to hold the tool on your hair for a log time to get it to work on your hair.

Hi i found this, but then it dawned on me that its not the hair straigteners it was my hair becoming dry and brittle and hard to straighten. It depends on what type you use. I used to use kodo but these make my hair really dry. I just bought some GHD which lock in moisture in thehair and i found them much better,
