Hormonal problem? loosing a lot of hair, please help!?

hello, before i was on birth control pills (Yasmin) for about 4 months. before that, ortho tri cyclen lo. After i got off yasmin in march, i lost a lot of hair. im talking about half my head. i went to my doc, my blood was fine. went to a dermatologist, told me i have male pattern balding, told me the same thing happens to pregnant women after they have a baby. He was gonna give me expensive drops but it was too mcuch money and i would have to keep taking it for the rest of my life (like rogaine). i got a shampoo and it barely helps. I still loose some hair each day (not as much) but its adding up.

Did anyone experiance anything similar?

will my hair grow back? when?

should i buy anything or take hormones? ( im relucant on taking any pills because of what happened)

if you were pregnant, what did you do? did you hair grow back?

Thanks a bunch! I also started taking multi vit and biotin. the other pills for hair and nails made me throw up for some reason.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. It happened to me too. I went to the doctor and the first time it was from a medication for asthma that was toxic to my liver. I mean I just got in the shower and it started coming out and would not stop. I was hysterical, literally! At first the doctor said it was stress and I insisted on blood work and he discovered the medication overdose. The second time was after a major trauma. I went back in and again they always want to say stress. Yes, I was stressed and my hair falling out was not helping! This time I was hypothyroid. I have been on thyroid medication and it has much improved. What blood tests did they do? Mine fell out both times just on top like male pattern baldness. My hair did come back. It is twice as thick, curly and all the parts are now in different places. My cowlick is different, literally everything but who cares, it came back. I know you have been to at least 2 doctors but don't give up.

Hair just doesn't fall out over night. There has to be a reason.

Keep searching. Good luck.

if you have male pattern balding, you will never get your hair back.

I lost a lot of hair last month. My husband was worried, but all of a sudden it stopped. Give it a few days.

Try adding iodine to your diet. Get to a health food store and buy kelp tablets or add lots of seaweed to your diet. Korean restaurants usually have seaweed salad. Of course you also need to get your thyroid tested. Try a naturopathic doctor this time. The gold standard for the iodine is enough to keep you from getting a goiter, but you actually need more than that. Also, leave them damn birth control pills alone. They increase risk of breast cancer and screw up all your hormones. Use a rubber. Good luck!

After I delievered Twins I lost at least half my hair or more. It was so thin I bouht a wig to wear for awhile..

It grew back. It will just take a little bit of time... Biotin is good option and zinc can help too. Head and Shoulders contains zinc.

everyone loses about 100 hairs from there head each day. When women are pregnant they tend to stop losing there hair which makes it look healthy. After the babay is born the hormone balance trys to get back to normal and sheds the hair thinking that they are losing alot of hair.. which infact is the hair that they havent lost in the nine months.

Dont worry too much... it may be causing more hair to fall out as you are worrying.

Have you looked in alopecia...hair loss.. read up on that it may give you better answers
