My dog has lost all her hair?

So I took her to the vet and the vet gave her a shot for mites and now she cant sit still and stop crying. Is that normal after after a shot to get rid of the mites?

My dog has lost all her hair?

Dogs can get mange mites under their skin that keep moving and makes them totally miserable. Never heard of a shot for them usually they will give you a dip to dip them in. Call your vet and ask them because it may have caused a adverse reaction to the shot. It could be the mites are dying. You may want to ask your vet about you getting the mite under your skin also. There is a mange mite that can transfer from dogs to human.

Did the vet also prescribe a shampoo to bathe it in? he should of. I imagine he probably gave the shot Ivermectin. and if it seems it got worse Take him back.

CALL YOUR VET...NOW. She might be allergic to whatever was in the shot.

Mites are most often found in ear infections. I have been a professional pet groomer for 7 years now and not once have i found 'mites' on a dog. I have found 'fleas' on a dog that can cause itching. Are you sure that it is 'mites'.

Some things that do cause hair loss in dogs is hyperthyroidisim. or a change in hormones. are you sure that it is not one of those. if your dog can't stop itching you should really call your vet and ask what he/she gave your dog, and then get them to check your dogs thyroid.

If she has demodex mange which is mites that live under the skin of the animal it will cause it to loose its hair although I have never heard of having shots for it. When my dog had mites her hair loss started on her paws, and her skin was very red and flaky. She had to take Ivermectin orally for 4 months to clear it. If it is mites I would assume your vet would have done skin scrapings on your dog to make sure that was what it was. Pyoben Shampoo will help relieve your dogs skin inflammation, but I would question if it is mites if your vet didn't do a skin scraping.

What i think your dog has is mange which is caused by a mite and causes the dog to loss hair %26amp; if it is taken lightly it can even kill your dog. i think you should buy a shampoo or medicine to treat it.

Did you vet do a skin scrape for the mites, scrape a little piece of skin of your dog and place it on a slide? Mine did this on monday since my Scottish Terrier is losing some fur around her eyes, but once the slide was placed under the microscope, she found no mites (just a mild skin allergy). As for a shot for mites, she had discussed an ointment and drops for the ears. I have never heard of a shot for a microbe in animals. I would suggest going back to your vet ASAP, you never know what this shot can be doing to the insides of your puppy. Good luck and please let us know how it goes!

SCARCOPIC MANGE IS A MANGE FROM MITES-THEY LOOSE THEIR HAIR. IT CAN GET ON YOU AND ITS CALLED SCABIES. I'VE ALWAYS DIPPED MY DOGS WITH DIP FOR FLEAS, TICKS AND IT'LL SAY FOR SCARCOPIC MANGE, ALSO. SOME DOGS GET ALLERGIES THAT CAN CAUSE HAIR LOSS. THE VET CAN GIVE SHOTS OR PILLS TO CONTROL.

Please, take the time and the $$$ (even if you have to borrow it) And take her to another vet.

My dog lost all of her hair starting at her bottom and going up.

It was a liver problem. And I didn't catch it in time and now she is gone..

Her best furry friend has lost all the hair on the top of his and the left part of his face...because he has tumors.

Please, oh please! Take your furry kid to another vet. Preferably one that each other isn't affiliated with.

It really is worth a second opinion!!!

Good luck and may your furry kid get better!!!!

There are three main reasons for hair loss in a dog.

1. FLEAS. The home must be completed treated to get rid of the fleas. BEST SOLUTION is an animal call nematodes. They are available from good pet supplies or feed stores. Simple wet the ground in you yard and lightly powder the ground with them. Inside the home lightly wet with water the carpeting and lightly sprinkle the powder on the carpet. Ususally comes in 16 oz plastic bottles. After treating the house and the yard then treat the dog as below for mites. Drown the fleas the weting solution will also drown the pupa. The eggs can be killed using an aloe vera skin cream on the dog daily. It softens the skin and helps releave itching.

2. MANGE MUST go to the vet to get proper medications.

3. ALERGIES. Your dog may have alergies just like we do. Some affect the skin others their eyes or lungs. Again Off to the vet for testing and necessary meds.

IF YOUR DOG REALLY HAS MITES then a bath in a "wetted water" solution (using something like Amway LOC) will drown the mites. Then use a simple aloe vera cream all over the dog and it will also help with the itching. Mites normally infest the ears so using an ear drop (mineral oil) will also help but only if the dog really has mites.

In all of the above cases a simple use of regular Benadryl 25mg capsules once a day will help stop the itching. (Straight from my own dogs vet.) Benadryl is available over the counter in a generic form as Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride. Give it to your dog with a soft chewy treat or a piece of meat.
